Feb 28, 2014 · Feb 28, 2014. #1. Without going into a long story. My MTS has made me get a 80g tank. I do not have room for a 40 gallon and 80g and I am not willing to tear down one for the other. I came up with this idea to build a double aquarium stand. Both are freshwater and both tanks have rims which mean all their wait will be on the edges. A 10 gal filled with water is roughly 100lbs, if you weigh more than that and a piece of furniture can take your full weight without any indication it's about to give, it will be able to hold the tank. I also have a 29 gal on my Ikea Tarva 5 drawer dresser, which is pine.
